Chapter One

Who I Am

I am Payal Nagaonkar, an Agentic AI Engineer and AI/ML Engineer based in Boston, MA. I build AI agents. Not demos. Not prototypes that fall apart under real conditions.

I architect the infrastructure behind agents that reason through multi-step problems, call tools intelligently, recover from failure, and stay coherent across long conversations without losing the thread.

When I step away from the terminal, I am gaming (Valorant, MegaBonk), cooking something ambitious, or finding ways AI intersects with everything I love.

Chapter Two

Education

In December 2024, I graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a Master of Science in Computer Software Engineering. Boston became my home, and Northeastern shaped the engineer I am today.

My foundation was built at the University of Mumbai, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Computer Engineering and discovered a deep fascination with systems that think.

How I Build Agents

Agent Architecture

My technical foundation runs through LangChain, LangGraph, ReAct, multi-agent orchestration, and agent loops. I design systems where agents delegate to one another, manage state across complex trajectories, and operate reliably in production. Function calling and tool use are core to how I think about agent design from day one.

Evaluation & Production

I take evaluation seriously. Agent evals, trajectory evaluation, and benchmarking are how I know a system works rather than just appears to. I build conversational memory, manage context windows carefully, and implement memory summarization so agents hold up under the kind of extended, unpredictable interactions real users throw at them. I monitor everything, down to infrastructure level with Kubernetes.
